In life, we face many trials and tribulations, but it is through our darkest moments that we find the light within ourselves.” --St. Dymphna, Patron Saint of nervous disorders, mental disease, depression, and domestic abuse.
Kristen received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Ohio University, and her Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling from John Carroll University, and is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. She came to the field after her own healing journey from counseling many years ago. She is devoted to meeting clients where they are at, providing a relaxed atmosphere, and leaning into people's struggles with them.
She utilizes an eclectic method, with aspects of CBT, is DBT-informed and EMDR-trained. She has worked with clients of all ages with anxiety/stress management, grief and loss, life adjustment issues, PTSD/trauma, spiritual struggles, OCD, and depression mainly, and customizes her approach to each individual's specific needs and goals.
She did her internship in the prison system, has worked with children and teenagers in home and school settings, then transitioned to private practice working with adults, teens, and kids.
She can provide, when desired, a faith-based (Christian/Catholic) approach, and/or holistic stance to provide comprehensive care.
She views her profession as a privilege and honor and feels blessed to do this much needed work in the community.
She feels that integrating prayer, as well as the virtues of Faith, Hope, and Charity, can take folks from surviving to thriving in a pronounced way, deepen one's purpose, and relieve suffering.
Personally, she loves spending time with her family, friends, and dog Brahmy. She finds joy in reading good books, walks in nature, dancing and movement, cooking, and trying new things.
